When the big day finally comes and your newborn
baby will be coming home, it is important to have the nursery ready for
your little bundle of joy. You will at least need the very basic items
such as a baby crib, Moses basket and somewhere to keep babies clothes,
blankets and diapers.
It is very important to have the nursery
decorated as you like before the baby comes home, as it would not be a
good idea to paint and decorate afterward, due to the fumes that could
be released. Painting can pose a problem if you are keeping the sex of
the baby a secret or have decided not to find out the sex yourself yet,
but this can be dealt with by painting or papering with a neutral
colour scheme. This also applies to buying the baby's clothes if you
don't know whether it's a boy or girl, again, neutral colours such as
yellow green or cream will always work.
The experience of
decorating a nursery can be an exciting time and also fun. Every parent
wants their baby's nursery to be perfect and you can go wild in
choosing matching wall paper, crib sheets, furniture and anything else
such as lampshades and curtains. All this will, of course, depend on
your own budget, as it is also a very expensive period. As well as
furnishing the nursery you have all kinds of other things to buy such
as sterilisers, prams, bottles and much more. It is very useful if you
have family members who have toddlers as they can give second hand
items to use, if they no longer require them, therefore cutting down
the costs involved.
The most important part of the nursery is of
course the baby crib. There are a few considerations when purchasing a
crib such as the size of crib you require, whether it has a fixed rail
or an adjustable one, whether you want to purchase a convertible crib
that can be transformed into a toddler bed and so on. An adjustable
rail is a lot easier on your lower back, and a convertible crib has a
long use period. For the mattress I would recommend a hypoallergenic
foam mattress. There are also cribs with an adjustable base that can
lower and thus making it more difficult for your infant to climb out of
as they grow.
When you finally have the essentials there are
other items that may interest you such as g baby sleeping grobags, baby
monitors and safety gates. It is indeed an expensive time so ask around
for items you can get that may be on sale.
